If I were to venture a guess, it would be that Charger Guy edited his comment to try and change reality without realizing the time lag it takes Kinja to post edits.

I mean, I hate Trump just as much as pretty much the supermajority of this country; but Charger guy was mindlessly rambling quite a bit in that post.

I like it since it’s a good easy drinking beer. Not pretending to be hot shit, not the most expensive. A good beer when it’s hot out and you plan to have a few.

Man, I understand you’re passionate about this topic, but not every single comment needs to be turned back toward a criticism of Trump. I much prefer reading your automotive comments.

Please Charger Guy. While I hate his guts, He’s not Hitler.

Hitler was a far better public speaker.

Now Charger guy. Please shut up. This is why we can’t get anything done because there’s too many dumbasses on both sides of the aisle.

Mistaking Trump for a modern-day Hitler is common and wildly inaccurate.

The Republicans had no winning ticket, so they sent the clown in the room who seemed to be getting a lot of media attention and “good ratings.”

For all of his ideological awfulness, Hitler was a charismatic and very shrewd character. He knew how to speak. Organised, swift and systematic in execution. In full control of the media. All the marks of a dictator’s shocking rise to power.

Trump can barely throw together a complete sentence, and his own party hates him. He has accomplished very little since becoming POTUS. The GOP only tolerate him because they can pull off awful stunts behind the scenes while he plays clown in the media circus.

Believe me: if I could think of something good to say about him, I definitely would. The man has no redeeming qualities that I can decipher and no charms. And people have gotten tired of calling him on all of his untruths. He stormed the Oval Office with an absolutely in-your-face attitude and now he wants to cry about being treated poorly. And this after the way he treated Barack Obama for years with the birther thing. I mean, the guy screams voter fraud on an election that he won !

You cared enough to send me your reply and I do appreciate it. My issue with Donald Trump — and his ilk — isn’t even about the politics. My issue is about what a sorry example of a human being he is. Uninterested, uninteresting, unread. And a cadre of people out there in paroxysms trying to defend him and his dishonesty and his buffoonery.

And Congress? The opposite of Pro gress?

I’m not out here simply hating on Trump; I am trying to find an outlet to express my despair.

I get that. I certainly don’t find Trump an appealing person either. Even my wife, the most “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all” person you’ll ever meet said to me during the election, “I’m sorry, I just can’t vote for an asshole.”

And I get needing to vent. But please consider this. If you keep generating waves of negativity most or much of the time you are around people, you become “that guy” who complains and rants. For me, the negativity starts to wear on me, and I’ll start avoiding it. That would be a shame, because you’re much more than a one-track repeating monologue.

And, there’s something else. A friend once gave me the quote, “resentment is letting someone you dislike have free rent in your head.” I personally have a couple of people in my life who I would enjoy seeing buried alive in a fire ant mound, and my anger at them was making me a sour puss and ruining my day. With some help, I learned to feel pity for those people instead of anger and purge that negative energy from my system (well, not always). So, I say don’t let The Donald or those like him ruin your day. Vent once in a while if you need to. Then, come hang out and have fun.

Well said. So not Hitler, maybe just like a drunk Mao trying to rule Mongolia while invading Tibet. Intimidating, loud, oppressive to some, but generally ineffective.

I’ve been thinking about this exchange we are sharing, and the advice you offer here is similar to some which I offer. Regularly. So I might ought to take some of it.

The Donald surprised me by making a deal with Schumer et al, whom I’m very nearly as unhappy with as I am with Trump, he and his lot having delivered us Trump by trotting out Hillary Clinton as the heir apparent. The one person who could not beat Donald Trump in an election.

Thank you for caring enough to say something.

Hey man, consider this story:

http://www.businessinsider.com/trump-media-democrats-debt-deal-2017-9

I see this as an opening and I can describe exactly how I see it so. Is it possible here that President Trump, being not a politician, is also capable of being pragmatic? Is it possible, as with DACA, that if he changes his mind, or starts growing a heart (okay, that bit was cynical), that he will just go the direction that makes the most sense to him, politics be damned? I mean, it’s not about siding with Schumer because I’m way irritated with that guy, and I wish Mrs. Clinton would go find a bridge in Norway under which to take up permanent residence. And her husband. More of everyone’s favorite New Yorkers, right? But I mean, I am open. Trump came in so IN YOUR FACE and all about turning people off, that, well, I got really turned off. If he does pragmatic things that are the best for the citizenry, I am not the hater who will say it’s bad just because it’s from Trump. Which is nothing that many on the right can claim in their regard for Barack Obama.

And it’s hard for me to set my ego aside and admit it, but the comment I made about Trump’s world, while I believe it and I think it is spot on, I probably would have done better to keep to myself. Deep down, I know I nailed it, and that makes it the harder to own that I might better have kept it to myself. I appreciate that you think I’m a good dude, but truth is, I really wanna be a good dude.

I just read the story. It doesn’t really surprise me all that much because I think Trump is a pragmatist at heart. He’s loud and bombastic in promoting his interests, but he’s always seen himself as primarily a deal maker. This sets him at odds with traditional politicians who are hindered by their hardened ideologies.

I read an article in the Dallas Morning news a few days ago that shed some light on his decision to cancel the DACA in 6 months. He wants to tie funding for the border wall project to legislation to enact protection for immigrant children as a way to light a fire under the Republicans to make progress on his agenda, because he knows they don’t want to be seen as turning their backs on children. It’ll be interesting to see if his ploy works out for him.

I find politics much more interesting to talk about once discussion of the players’ personalities is filtered out. Then it becomes more about strategic and tactical problems and less about gossip.

Sure. But to be fair, Trump stormed in as an in-your-face dude, to the maximum degree. I am honestly hopeful that Trump is beginning to adjust his game a little bit. I read a comment in a Politico piece where they said Trump has come to recognize how loathed he is by how much of the country and he really doesn’t like that.
